Many seniors are faced with financial problems today due to the economic recession. Some seniors are faced with financial disasters due to job layoffs or losses. Others that have retired find themselves watching every penny that they spend, and some are faced with not being able to live comfortably or pay for all of their needed expenditures.
Many seniors are looking for ways to supplement their income and some are faced with having to go back into the work force, only to find that they do not have the necessary skills that it takes to become employed. They may also have health problems that prevent them from gaining employment.
With so many businesses closing down and job losses occurring everywhere, some seniors are taking in their children to live with them. Many are also selling their homes because they can't afford to keep them up or pay the taxes. Many seniors take on a different kind of lifestyle, sell their main home, and live in an RV or with friends or relatives.
Credit card debt seems to be a major problem these days. Many seniors find that they are having to use major credit cards for food and extra expenditures. Many of them cannot afford to pay the balance at the end of the month, and this leaves them with a balance that keeps accumulating interest charges. Eliminating credit cards, or using them only in an emergency situation is the best solution to this problem.
