Seniors and Weight

Seniors who are having trouble with keeping the weight off must learn to eat less, because they are more than likely not as active as they used to be. Therefore, if they can't exercise due to health concerns, then the only other alternative is to eat less. Seniors should be able to tell if they are eating too much and try to curb the impulse.

The same rule applies to those who are a little more active. They still have to eat less, as well, but everyone needs to also eat the right kinds of food. Fruits and vegetables are far more beneficial for the body than cake or ice cream, and cutting back on treats is a first step towards weight loss. Cutting back on food intake overall doesn't help with maintaining a healthy weight if the food that is eaten is still unhealthy.

Most of the seniors who lose that extra weight gain more self esteem, as well as feel healthier, so it is an all around good idea for seniors to take care of themselves. It could add years to their lives. There are places that have pools for seniors to go to so they can get some exercise. Some seniors can't gain weight no matter how hard they try. They just seem to continue to lose it, even though they eat a balanced diet. Seniors should seek the advice of their doctor because they may need certain dietary supplements to ensure they stay healthy.
