Healthy Foods for Seniors

Eating healthy is not aimed at you eating foods you don’t like, but it is geared more to staying healthy by eating foods that promote good health. You will feel better, have more energy and better thought processes if you eat more fruits and vegetables and lay off of sugary foods, red meat and things that are made of white flour, such as bread and pastas.
If at all possible, exercise, this will keep your muscles toned and help keep your heart healthy. So remember eat right and exercise.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? In actuality, it is simple. That is if you wrap your mind around the idea and don’t give in to temptations. Eat a wide variety of foods, concentrating on vegetables, fruits and things made of whole grains. Eat smaller portions, and eat more often. Some times six small meals a day are better than three big ones. Also drink lots of water. Our bodies are predominantly water and thus it needs to keep replacing what we eliminate. Don’t eat more calories than you need. Experts claim a normal body needs about 2000 calories a day to maintain good health.

Don’t eat more than the 2000, but you certainly can eat less, especially if you are feeling full. Don’t eat too much just because you think you need 2000 calorie a day, that is down right foolish. Make your transition from unhealthy food to healthy food, one step at a time, it will be a lot easier if you take it slowly. Good luck and have a healthy life in the future.
