Importance Of Eating Healthy As You Age

Healthy Eating is very important at any age, but especially so after the age of 65. We encounter more serious health problems as we get older and it's important to cut down on fat and salt intake. Making simple changes in your diet can not only save you money, but keep you healthier. Important things to remember are low-fat, fat-free and low sodium foodstuffs. If you find that you are alone and do not want to cook for yourself, there are many pre-made meals out that cater to the healthy eater.

It is also important to know that fresh vegetables and frozen vegetables have many of the same nutrients so you can save money by purchasing frozen vegetables. You can also store them in your freezer for long periods of time, unlike fresh vegetables. By purchasing organic foods you can fuel your body with good food that is raised and processed in a more healthy way. The only problems with this is that organic foods can be more expensive.

If you incorporate more vegetables, tofu and low-fat, high protein meats, you will not only be healthier, but look healthier as well. There are many benefits from eating better which include increased energy and decreased weight. No matter how you choose to change your eating habits, you will begin to notice how much better you feel and how much more you will be able to accomplish.
