Good Exerciese for Seniors

When you become the age of 55, you are considered a senior citizen. But just because you are in society's eyes, doesn't mean you have to let everything go! Some seniors are already on their way to 100 years of age and they feel 20 years younger than they already are because they have kept in shape. If you are out of shape, it doesn’t take but 30-60 minutes a day and you can be ready for the Olympics! Okay, well, maybe not the Olympics, but small exercises can keep you feeling young.

Staying active is easy when you have the time. Simple things like arm raises and shoulder rolls can really help you. Say a woman named Sally was entering her senior age, but she still wants to stay active. A good starting point for Sally would be stretching for 30-60 minutes a day, Sally could roll her shoulder and raise her arms with or without weights increasingly every day. She could then move onto other parts of her body until she feels ready to take it up a notch.

Endurance strengthening would be a good next step. She could walk, swim, or ride a bike. Now, any senior should consult their doctor before doing anything they may hurt themselves with. Balance is very dangerous for seniors, too, because it can lead to a fall or a broken bone. Any way to increase your metabolism is good for your heart. When a senior is exercising it is a very good way to stay healthy and keep your heart going.
