The aging process is something that is going to happen to every human being, this process eventually holds a demeaning affect on people when you have become a senior. Nobody likes to accept the fact that they are old and find themselves coping differently with the drop of physical activity, increase or decrease in appetite and changes in sleeping patterns.
All people should know the term “do unto others, as you would have others do unto you.” This is a critical statement when it involves the elderly, being elderly individuals tends to be frustrated, cranky and depressed. Everyone has the need for attention and often times this can be an odd way for seniors to gain the attention of others left in their life. People must carry the tolerance and patience when helping our seniors out, already carrying a feeling of unworthy or the feeling of becoming an outcast in today’s society. We can help seniors gain some incentive back by helping them find a hobby they enjoy such as knitting, building small items, painting and reading only to name a few, keeping busy for seniors is very important.
It is up to the younger generations to help seniors regain the self worth and confidence perhaps they feel has been lost. Just by putting ourselves in their shoes, we should instinctively know that the feeling of being an outcast in today’s society is not a comfortable way to think or feel about. So reach out and put laughter back into our golden senior, we can help them back to a youthful feeling perhaps a senior thought they had lost.
