The aging process involves those changes that occur over time, whether in humans, animals, a piece of furniture, or a stick of gum. Sometimes the changes suggest improvement over time, like when a piece of furniture becomes an antique, or even a vehicle, so long as they remain in good shape. Even a house appreciates with time, providing it‘s not falling apart, which would detract from it‘s value. Of course a stick of gum, on the other hand, as it “ages,” usually loses flavor and becomes less well-regarded as time goes on until finally it is gotten rid of. Now with people, it really depends on a lot of things whether the aging process will shed a positive light or a not-so-positive light. Like some people, when they get old and perhaps are in pain or have suffered emotional or mental setbacks or losses, can portray themselves in the eyes of others as cranky old fools. Others, having endured perhaps similar hardships but having a great attitude and having used their experiences as a tool to learn from, they are looked up to perhaps as having vast wisdom.
There is nothing peculiar about aging, it is a normal part of life. People nowadays are living longer and longer, though sometimes, their quality of life suffers as a result. With medical advances, though, others are able to grow older and stay with their families longer with a good quality of life. Again, it depends. But with good health habits and a good emotional and social support system in place, many seniors are able to enjoy a comfortable and fulfilling long life; the aging process is simply playing its role.
