Attitude

It is easy to adopt an attitude; it is difficult to change that attitude once it becomes entrenched in your daily life.  Therefore, it is obvious that no matter what your circumstances may be, a positive attitude will always make things better for you.

It is true that as one grows older and the body begins to fail, aches and pains can begin to dominate one’s thoughts.  Arthritis and diabetes are some of the degenerative diseases that many people must learn to deal with on a daily basis.  When an individual is consumed with pain, quite often their attitude turns negative.  Unfortunately, a negative attitude manifests itself in worsening health problems and adversely affects one’s relationships with friends and family.  Scott Hamilton is quoted as saying, “The only disability in life is a bad attitude.”   If this is true, what can be done about this?

Today, there are many resources to aid you in changing your thinking patterns to include a more actively positive attitude.  But, first, how about investigating ways to lessen the pain you are experiencing?  Once this is done, the mind is more open to accept a new attitude.  Associating with people who exhibit a positive attitude toward life is a big help, as well.  It is common knowledge that attitude is an emotional reaction to what we have learned in the past.  Negative emotional reactions can be relearned and converted into positive interactions.  Mary Engelbreit believes, “If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.”

Begin today with comforting thoughts and with the belief that your life is worth enough to change your emotional outlook.
